Docker :- is a tool developed to make it easier to create, deploy, and run applications throw containers, its all about speed, deployments, update faster, test faster, develop faster, recover faster.

Use less operating system to manage more applications.(Containers)

First Open Terminal on your ubuntu 20.04 Start :

  • sudo apt-get update
  • sudo apt-get upgrade

Install Curl command which is : tool to download or transfer files/data from or to a server using FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, SCP, SFTP, SMB and other supported protocols on Linux or Unix-like system.

  • sudo apt install curl

Now to Install docker go to get-docker. as you seen in below image

  • get docker to install docker
  • curl -fsSL https://get.docker.com -o get-docker.sh
  • sh get-docker.sh

Now check docker version after installation :-

  • docker --version

we want to Install docker-compose which is : a tool for defining and running multi-container in dokcer applications.

Now go to docker-compose and go to install docker compose on linux systems you will find these command for installation or newer version :

  • sudo curl -L "https://github.com/docker/compose/releases/download/1.26.0/docker-compose-$(uname -s)-$(uname -m)" -o /usr/local/bin/docker-compose
     #and for permission apply this command: #Hint
    sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/docker-compose

docker compose installation for linux

Now install docker-machine which is :- a tool to let you install docker engine on virtual hosts.

Go to docker-machine release and copy the command from the link to install docker-machine on linux as you see in below or newer version : -

  • curl -L https://github.com/docker/machine/releases/download/v0.16.2/docker-machine-`uname -s`-`uname -m` >/tmp/docker-machine &&
     chmod +x /tmp/docker-machine &&
     sudo cp /tmp/docker-machine /usr/local/bin/docker-machine

you can check docker machine version via command :-

  • docker-machine --version
